Alvin R. Bergren, MAI


 

Is a member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI). He is a licensed real estate broker and a certified general real estate appraiser in the State of California and has completed considerable specialized appraisal education in real estate appraisal. He has qualified as expert witness in: Contra Costa County Superior Court, San Mateo County Superior Court, San Francisco Superior Court, and Marin Superior Court, all in the State of California.

Mr. Bergren has been in the real estate business for nearly 35 years, first in real estate finance working for several large insurance companies in underwriting and appraising properties for loans. Then he ran a private mortgage banking company for several years before starting his own company to arrange financing for real estate and to appraise real estate. He continues his contacts and occasionally arranges financing for larger commercial properties. Through his many years in the real estate profession he has appraised, underwritten, or arranged financing for many different types and sizes of real estate transactions. He has worked on sky scraper offices in Manhattan, suburban offices, downtown retail, shopping centers, churches, mortuaries, industrial buildings, multi-family projects, nursing homes, assisted living, subdivisions, mixed use buildings and vacant land.

Professional Service
Active in Northern California Chapter of the Appraisal institute, Mr. Bergren has served as facilities committee chairman, member of Fall Conference committee, and proctor of the MAI comprehensive examination.

He has been a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association, Bay Area Mortgage Association founder and coordinator of Commercial Mortgage Associates. He has been a lecturer in several industry conferences.

Community Service
Also active in his community, Mr. Bergren served as chairman of the building committee for his church, and constructed a new church and fellowship hall and related facilities, has been active in his political party, served in his fraternity and coached many girls softball teams when his four daughters were younger. He serves on the board of directors of two investment companies and with family members is engaged in buying, improving, and reselling real estate for a profit.
